Tzav:up in smoke

Tzav:up in smoke

The fire of the altar turns the body of the animal and the meal offering to smoke and ashes. The spirit floats up and the earthen part settles into neutral gray.  All that is required is the death and burning. Only the Cohain can do it right, with the right fire and the right sprinkling of blood.

Ashes: earth
smoke: air
blood: water
fire: fire

Did they understand it better?  What could be simpler.

And that's an order!
