Vayakhel-Pikudei: Herding individuals

Vayakhel-Pikudei: Herding individuals

Vayakhel means that one assembled a group, a kahal.  The group was assembled to built the Mishkan.  The parts were built to specifications.  The parts were made to tolerance, they were compatible with one another. It was an assembly line, the industrial revolution  The organized group can build great things:  the Tabernacle (the golden calf, the Model T Ford and the  tower of Babel).

This is balanced against the Pikudei of the situation; the details of the resources and the reminder of individual contributions.   ( V'Hashem Pokad eth Sarah). Every individual (and Gd) knows how she contributes to the Great Project of his time.  Each individual must decide which project will her legacy, his kaparah.
