Bo:To the bone

Bo:To the bone

The word etzem is used several times in the parsha. It means the very one, as in etzem hayom, that very day and it means bone, as in do not break the bones of the Pesachal lamb.  Are bones the essence? They are the lasting part, the independent part (atzmauth).  Perhaps that is the unifying principle. No matter what happens, that day of liberation, the Independence day is the 15th of Nisan.

Money

Moshe asks  the people to please ( Na) borrow gold and silver from the Egyptians.  I can imagine that these people never heard the word "please" before.  They felt no relationship to gold and silver.  They did not know how to borrow from the master. They did not know how to own, how to get paid.  But they learned, and put that gold to use... and made a calf.
