Shemoth

One topic that rings out of this past week's sidra is the Jewish work ethic.
1. One can become enslaved to one's own work
2. Working for someone else is always a form of slavery ( your father -in-law remains an ambiguous case, a possible exception)
3. The union makes us strong (workers of the world unite)
The Jewish Foward masthead reads: "Workers of the world unite, the liberation of the worker depends upon the worker himself."
4. Religion is the source of the holiday, the day off from work. This gives religion an appeal beyond its opiate properties.
